Drip Spheres: Droplet Shedding Surfaces

Droplets of water deposited onto superhydrophobic leaves or surfaces ball up, roll around and roll-off. In these spheres, drips of water are released and fall onto the leaves of plants where they bounce and roll.

If business cards with one-side normal and one-side superhydrophobic are placed beneath the drip, the difference can be seen dramatically - in the former case the drop rests easily on the surface, but in the latter it is almost impossible to keep the drop steady on the card.
